Producer Robert Tapert announced that the unofficial name for the much-anticipated 4th sequel to the popular 1981 horror film The Evil Dead was a tad inaccurate.
“That would be Army of Darkness 2,” said Tapert, “Everybody calls it Evil Dead 4 but Army of Darkness wasn’t called Evil Dead anywhere except by the fans.”
Creator-cum-Director Sam Raimi returns once again to work his magic while Actor Bruce Campbell (Cars 2, 2011), main protagonist of The Evil Dead trilogy, teased us into believing he just might reprise his role as Ash Williams.
“Sam threatens this every six months,” said Campbell. “I’ve heard this a thousand times, because in the back of his mind, he never wants to let go, because he loved making these movies. We all loved making them together. They were a nightmare to make, very difficult, but they lasted the test of time, so he’s not going to let that go, and I’m never going to say ‘no’. It’ll be me and a walker fighting some other old guy. But that’s what he does and who knows? It may happen.”
Let’s hope this dark army doesn’t end up evilly dead!
Raimi, Campbell and Tapert have also produced the reboot of 1981’s The Evil Dead (directed by Fede Alvarez) that premiered in the SXSW Film Festival earlier this month.
