The SG New Wave website has reached its first year of existence and we have grown up! After some intense brainstorming, the second generation team intends to make SG New Wave more alive than ever.

As a guardian and admirer of the team’s energy, I am very proud of the students’ accomplishments, research and hard work. Over the last year, the group organized many screenings and events, amongst which one screening lasted for 24 hours! Without a doubt, the organizers and the moviegoers who stayed overnight demonstrated their deepest passion for movies.

We have also members of our team who have covered DVD launches, filmmaker’s seminars, film festivals in Singapore and Hong Kong and interviews with professionals from the international film industry. In addition to this, our editor was admitted to the prestigious Berlinale Talent Campus and he was on site in Berlin to cover the 2007 Berlin International Film Festival. Overall, their achievements have been overwhelming and the experience tremendously enriching. You can see the fruits of their work and experiences showcased on our website.

A second generation team has currently taken over and intends to transform and make SG New Wave more exciting. They have come up with a new and more interactive website, in which they have integrated their podcasts, forums for discussion and students’ movies. The group is also reaching out to its audience by organizing weekly SG New Wave screenings. It has become tremendously popular and it is a weekly event not to be missed. My hope is that the SG New Wave website demonstrates our love for movies and our movement in film.
