The only thing you really need to know about The Darjeeling Limited is that it was Wes Anderson’s excuse to shoot a movie in India.
All jokes aside, Darjeeling is definitely in the same spirit and style of previous Wes Anderson entries and that the palette of India adds a lot more vibrancy and colour to an already distinguishable style of filming. The three brothers played by Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody and Jason Scwartzmann are all great, especially the delivery of deadpan humour coupled with the differing personality traits. You could really tell that Wes wanted to showcase the beauty of India and its culture, from the bustling streets to the religious temples. There is also a nod to a renowned Indian filmmaker that everyone must know, Satyajit Ray who proves to be a major influence on Wes’s approach in the making of this film.
So, hop on the train because this film is a wild ride to behold.
